Fair enough. It means that new users cloning the main repository don't
see the in-progress development of branches like this, (except for any
versions you've pushed). So yes, that's a downside.

Hehe. I'd probably be more inclined to contribute to a shared repository
if it was hosted on something running free software[*]. I think we've
got something that will at least work for now.

this list, so I'm intentionally not trying to raise that as a discussion
topic here.
