[avahi] avahi-autoipd and FireWire networking

...I've run into the issue where avahi-autoipd will refuse to work with
a FireWire LAN, because the hwaddr is "too long":

jeremy at rillian:~$ ifconfig eth2

jeremy at rillian:~$ sudo avahi-autoipd eth2
getsockname() returned invalid hardware address.

...which kinda sucks. Has any progress been made towards fixing this?
