[cairo] High-precision pixel formats

Hello,
I'm interested in using Cairo in one of my projects. One of the planned
key features of it is that it must handle high-precision pixel formats,
like RGB48, RGBA64 (16-bit integer), and "float" RGB & RGBA.
I'm thinking about implementing the neccessary functions for Cairo.
Can you help me? I'm not familiar with Cairo's internals. Is it
possible? Would it be too difficult?
