I think this is only slightly inappropriate but the author must understand
there is nothing stopping someone from remixing it to remove the label and
users can choose which ever version they prefer, in fact we encourage
exactly that.

I had been considering putting labels on images but my intention was to
put my name or links to OpenClipart.org outside the page margins so that
in most cases like a simple viewer it would not normally be seen but it
would be seen in an editor like Inkscape which shows information outside
the page.  (so in this case you could go in and manually adjust the page
height to effectively crop out the branding)
