Hi Tavin,

Thanks for your email. You'll need to understand the differences
between Public Domain and the release "Guidelines" that Mozilla have
used, to understand why it's very difficult to determine if the RSS
icon is available for a Public Domain Website. For the most part, I
(not necessarily others in the OCAL community) go by, if "there's
any doubt, leave it out". "Free" does not mean Public Domain. Have a
good comparison at the licences that are "Free" and you will see
they are not as "free" as people think they are. (Of course they are
better than nothing! But still not "Free.")

And to me, there is strong evidence against having the RSS Icon in
the Public Domain. However I'm not the only voice, neither am I a
legal expert on copyright or public domain. (It's just something
I've studied for over 3 years. ;) )

You might like to talk to Jon, or Bassel, or some of the other
Librarians. What OCAL needs is a legal lawyer, but even then this
"debate" has gone on for a long time. :) Even if there were a team
of lawyers, it might not be resolved in ten or so more years. By
that time I'll have lost interest. I'd rather be creating something
new, than hacking at a dead cow, wouldn't you? :)
