Hi Ryan

Welcome aboard. You now have developer status. (also known as SystemGOD).
When you go to the librarian page (http://www.openclipart.org/librarians) you will see new boxes to interact with. Have a play around.

Preamble - Getting plugged in
You can access the ocal coding by going to the admin interface. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with how to move around in there. (Also be careful since there you are in the live site.) Someone else will be able to help you set up a test environment if you are interested in such.

I will be taking a look at [Aiki] as i sign up with the mailing list that
you have mentioned.

There are [more than] two related mailing lists. The one you have signed up to, is for the generic OCAL mailing list. This will give you information and conversations from anyone else on that list. These people are Regular users, Librarians and Developers. I view it as a general mailing list, but it does have some necessary info coming through it.

The second thing I would like you to sign up to is the OCAL developers team on launchpad. This is for developers only and the info is really only useful to developers. We dont spam-bug the regular users with this info. This team also enables us to talk about some security issues privately as they arise. https://launchpad.net/~openclipart.devel

Then, check out https://launchpad.net/aikiframework. Sign up to any mailing list or team there that you would like to. http://www.aikiframework.org/

To modify the OCAL site, it is not necessary to know aiki, nor php. If you know JS or HTML that is enough to get by. I am not a programmer by any means, however I am able to cope with what I choose to do. Knowing aiki and php or other languages will help your goals of course.

Communication methods
IRC = #openclipart on freenode. Also relevant is #aiki.
(Please be clear in your own mind that Aiki and OCAL are two separate and different projects, that have a large amount of the same people working on and in them.)
OCAL Mailing list = clipart@lists.freedesktop.org
Developers team mailing list = accessible through launchpad.
I am a contact person for OCAL as is any librarian. Each has their own email. You know mine.

As Oleg has said, there are bugs and blueprints that you could take a look at to see if there is any that take your interest. The things we are currently working on in OCAL is outlined in https://launchpad.net/openclipart/+milestone/3.1. If you find more bugs or have ideas on improvement feel free to add them to bugs or blueprints.
I hope that I learn enough about the framework to be able to do
something useful for the site.

I am positive that you will :) Even if you do not learn Aiki, I am sure that you will bring a valuable contribution to the team.

Thanks for accepting my request.

You are most welcome. Glad to have you.

--
Cheers
Chovynz
