I ran into this problem (no window decorations, g-w-d running) today with the latest compiz-quinnstorm CVS. I ended up reverting to CVS from Tuesday to avoid this problem. Yesterday's CVS had a quinnstorm-specific build issue unrelated to this, so it's possible that yesterday's vanilla compiz would have worked.
