The drawback is that it doesn't help for interoperability, an application can 
add its own metadata XML and no one else can read it, and that would break 
interoperability. An other problem is that it increase the complexity for the 
application that want to read the file (it has to support reading XMP, RDF, 
Whatever, just to read the author and licence of the file).

I have the same problem with OpenRaster metadata. Maybe we should start a 
general reflection about metadata in create, about wether we only support one 
format, leave it free or have a "bless" list.

Personnaly I have mixed feeling about XMP. I have heard as much good things as 
bad things about it.
