Cool. Louis, please confirm so that we can all have big high five and
start the wheels moving :)

Hey! I am all set here! :) I was even at the uni this morning and yes, we're all set. :)

Before we give the official kick-off, I would like to make sure all the teams are ok with coming back to Montreal in 2009. I am in the wait for official go-ahead by Scribus and GIMP teams. Can you guys speak up, please!

Also, I would like to make sure we clarify things about the side-event proposition in Amsterdam as I am not sure to get the idea, really.

To me, there can only be one LGM that gathers all the people in one same venue at a time, where we can discuss face to face among and between teams. "For people that can't travel that far"... is true but it will always be true, no matter where the venue is. We could try connecting video for a couple of sessions but I wonder, considering what it takes to organise the LGM, if it's a good idea to offer such a possibility. LGM is small and we need the people together. If half the bunch is in Amsterdam and the other half in Montreal, I think we will be missing the point. Maybe I look at this in a too rigid way. Please let me know how it would not interfere with the main event.

As I mentionned in my reply to Adam's post back then, his proposal sure looked like a complete organisation, except the funding. But as I said, the reality is the funding is going to be a team effort. Corporate sponsors, for the main part, are not my sole responsibility. Local sponsoring for small expanses, yes. And we might also need again a community effort like last time to help gather the money needed to fund the travel costs of the developers. So again, team effort.

Just from the standpoint of sponsors, I think it is going to be hard to sell the idea of a Main Event and a Side Event. No? Especially when half of the developers are coming from Europe... Why would they go to Montreal if they can meet in Amsterdam? I don't think we can afford to split the event like this.

As the main organiser, I need that to be clarified right from the start, please! :)

Thoughts?

Once this is clarified, I am ready for the kick-off start! :)

Louis
