<div dir="ltr"><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div>Hi everyone,<br><br></div>Big thanks to everybody who came to the OpenType feature-support workshop last Saturday, and to the LGM local organizing team for hosting us. I think it went quite well.<br><br></div>In an attempt to organize what went down so that moving forward will be easier, I wrote up a summary of the session as best I could on my blog: <a href="http://www.freesoftwhere.org/2015/05/07/opentype-workshop-lgm-2015/">http://www.freesoftwhere.org/2015/05/07/opentype-workshop-lgm-2015/</a><br><br></div>It's probably overly wordy. But if I got something terribly wrong, please let me know. If I simply left something out, also let me know, but I'll probably save that for an update.<br><br></div>The practical bits to be aware of for those interested in the project:<br><br></div>- We're going to use this list to coordinate.<br><br></div>- I've set up a GitHub organization here: <a href="https://github.com/opensource-opentype">https://github.com/opensource-opentype</a> that you can join, which we can use for wiki & documentation and/or tracking stuff. Something on Google+ or FDo may follow later.<br><br></div>- A few people took on some tasks. Peter is looking to explore how typographers & other users approach/use OpenType features. Behdad has several bugs in his sights, and is going to work on adding support for querying and reporting features in font files. I am going to research feature implementations in existing fonts and hopefully come up with some test fonts (one way or another).<br><br></div>There isn't much of a timeline at present, since this is rather exploratory at this stage and how much support people have from their various employers for devoting time to the project varies. But if you're interested, I hope you'll get involved. I know there will need to be work at the application and library level to several pieces, so if it's something that strikes your interest, your help is more than welcome.<br clear="all"><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><br></div><div>Thanks,<br></div><div>Nate<br></div><div>-- <br><div class="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr">nathan.p.willis<br><a href="mailto:nwillis@glyphography.com" target="_blank">nwillis@glyphography.com</a><a href="http://identi.ca/n8" target="_blank"></a></div></div>
