As I know, the current kernel drivers(hid & hidparser) on Solaris
can not handle USB/HID UPS devices. However, there is a project "HID
Extending" in progress with the goal as "support more hid devices and
features in hid devices in solaris,
including function keys in keyboard, horizontal scroll in some usb
mice, tablet, UPS and others." I am waiting for the delivering of the
project for UPS support.

So USB/HID UPS support will not be covered by Phase One of
Devicekit-power on Solaris.
For Solaris, I do not know if related drivers are ready in the kernel
But for Devicekit-power, our current plan is just to implement all

back around 6 years ago (the last I look at the solaris kernel, when
working with Jan), the HID kernel driver was limited to keyboard and
mouse.

at that time, we worked on the ugen driver, on which the Solaris
version of the libusb is based (on which the NUT USB drivers are also
based in turn).

Maybe you can get more info within Sun?
cheers,
