A fellow Gentoo developer is developing It's a
database of DOAP registers which contains metadata for upstream
projects. AFAIK, it supports any project with an entry in SourceForge,
Freshmeat and PyPI atm, plus any project which maintains a DOAP feed.

He's also working on a tool which maps doapspace entries to Gentoo
packages, so we can get info about new versions for our packages,
locations of bug trackers, homepages, etc.

I think it may be a good point of start for developing tools which
maps those registers to other distro's packages, so you can get the
stats you want. Although, there's no one who is doing such work.
