With the second patch + valley I get -

valley_x64: LiveVariables.cpp:114: void
llvm::LiveVariables::MarkVirtRegAliveInBlock(llvm::LiveVariables::VarInfo &,
llvm::MachineBasicBlock *, llvm::MachineBasicBlock *,
std::vector<MachineBasicBlock *> &): Assertion `MBB != &MF->front() && "Can't
find reaching def for virtreg"' failed.
