I'm not 100% sure if this is the same issue but when I try to start with the default settings (without an X conf file) the screen remains black and the gpu-fan speeds up. After 5 minutes I abort it. According to the logs the X-Server starts and (for me) there are no suspicious messages. As a workaround I put 'Option "AccelMethod" "EXA"' into a X conf file. My system: GPU: XFX Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition (AMD Tathiti) kernel: 3.11.6-1-ARCH xf86-video-ati: 1:7.2.0 mesa: 9.2.2 glamor-egl: 0.5.1 X-server: 1.14.3 llvm: 3.3 Should I attach the Xorg.log?
