XBMC devs advise that while composite being enabled makes it suboptimal, it shouldn't break it like this, and indeed as reported on earlier versions it didn't. (xmir definitely isn't enabled btw; that utterly fails to work for me, won't even start.) In the meantime just noting: Contrary to the previous commenter it *worked* for me on mesa 10.0 and 10.0.1 and only failed from the specified commit onwards Also to reiterate, the player I'm using is xbmc from the fernetmenta branch, which is where, I understand, the vdpau/radeon work is going on at the moment. I was having issues enabling vdpau in vlc, but I'd given up on that some time earlier and was my impression it was an unrelated issue, but I can look at that again.
