Also, if you are making up mode names in the lower layers they don't
all have to be unique, they only have to be unique at a given
resolution. For example different HDTV resolutions like 1920x1080
could have the names HDTV-Movies, HDTV-Sports. Those same names could
be reused at 1280x720.

The first time you plug a monitor in the system would probably
generate horrible names but you could go back and edit them or we can
come up with some standard names down in framebuffer land.
