Cold coffee. JS began adding "inovative" features like DVD support after
CDDLisation of most project parts.

Look at the files please. Most are links to the cdrecord source. In fact
the original parts of mkisofs are still there and are not dropped
(though its build system is). IIRC you can revert the code path to use
the old code instead of Schilling's stuff.

on a forked version for Debian to not care about such stuff.>
