Could you try starting gst-player from the commandline, like this
 'gst-player --gst-scheduler=opt'.

I am a curios if that makes a difference or not

+Yes it does. though not perfectly. I get warnings like:
+
+** (gst-player:2742): WARNING **: scheduling change, implement me
+
+** (gst-player:2742): WARNING **: pad unlink for different groups,
+implement me
+
+I am able to play mp3 files now. But mpeg it still touch and go, I
+think this might be do to the maturity of the plugins.
