 Moving the .pc files into a subdirectory tricks pkgconfig into using the
 new pkgconfig/ subdir as the root for all the things like include and
 library paths in the uninstalled case.  Easy fix may be to add ../ to the
 paths in the uninstalled .pc files, otherwise something more drastic may be
 necessary, not sure what.

+Cflags include a lot of strange things, attemping to figure out what
+they all mean.  I hesitate to add the ../ in just the initial variable
+assignments until I know what the later uses of ${pcfiledir} are
+doing, because they look wrong, and would need the ../ as well.
