+Gst-Player is supposed to be a simple proof-of-concept and testing 
+application that has the basic features to play a media file.

+The stuff you describe should IMO not be part of this little tool. 
+You might want to take a look at Rhythmbox (for music) or Totem (for 
+video and optionally music).
