Each mixer implementation needs to iedntify the 'master' volume somehow.
This is normally 'Volume' or (if that doesn't exist) 'PCM' for OSS. For
ALSA, I'm not sure. I was thinking about a flag GST_MIXER_TRACK_MASTER in
the appropriate track to identify it in applications that require it (e.g.
ACME).
