 I think versioning GConf entries is wrong.
 GConf entries should be forwards compatible to keep configurations.

+Benjamin: that doesn't work.  the parse syntax for example has
+changed.    the elements have changed.  also, the base .schemas file
+needs to be named differently as well for parallel installability.
