Yes, I've now upgraded the drivers, libs etc to 1.06a, the latest release
version. The result is the same.

Incidentally, the same MP3 plays fine with alsaplayer, so it seems to be related
to alsasink's usage of the ALSA libs, rather than the ALSA libs itself.
