To me the log looks like it actually crashes in/after videoscale and not in
dvdreadsrc.

Do these pipelines produce the crash as well?

    gst-launch-0.8 dvdreadsrc device=/dev/hdc title=2 ! dvddemux 

    gst-launch-0.8 dvdreadsrc device=/dev/hdc title=2 ! dvddemux ! mpeg2dec !
fakesink
