What version of -core and -base and -good is this with? Works fine for me with
CVS:

tim at sceptic:~/samples/audio/mp3$ gst-launch-0.10 playbin
uri=file:///home/tim/samples/audio/mp3/onlyid3v1-336964.mp3  -t
Setting pipeline to PAUSED ...
Pipeline is PREROLLING ...
