Please provide some more information:

 * what Totem version are you using? (see Totem about dialog)
 * what GStreamer core version are you using? (see Totem about dialog)
 * what gst-plugins-base version are you using?

 * what type of file are you trying to play? (avi/mpeg/quicktime/etc.)
 * where are you playing the file from (local file? in your browser? etc.)
