Thanks for the fast response and the confirmation. 

It is expected that audioscale is required for it work in 0.8.11-5, even if it
worked without before (applications always need an audioscale in the pipeline
anyway, as they can't really make any assumptions about the capabilities of the
audio output).

Closing as fixed in CVS.
