I don't see it with other OSes and I have found that Akamai has good servers so
I think the problem is the buffering algorithms.

I know that real, wmplayer, etc. have worked quite a bit on doing good
buffering (and starting the playing up right away rather than having long
delays) so I think gstreamer needs a bit more love here.
