I can confirm that this is still happening as of the most recent version. A mkv
video file with h.264 video still plays noticeably slower with gstreamer than
with mplayer or xine. Also, its extremely noticeable when comparing a 1080p
quicktime h.264 file to a 480p matroska h.264 file.
