Don't think it's a design issue. However, the thing is that caps for more than
2 channels currently need to have a channel layout attached to them; having to
specify these for lots of channels makes caps negotiation much slower; maybe we
need to support default layouts for > 8 channels (with NONE positions for all
channels) so this isn't so much of an issue then.
