The function

  gst_bin_find_unconnected_pad

should be renamed to

  gst_bin_find_unlinked_pad

The terminology of "connected pads" isn't used anywhere in the API.  It's
"linked pads" all over the place.  The inconsistent naming is confusing and
makes it hard to discover the function.
