What makes you think this is a GStreamer bug and not a totem bug?

Recent versions of totem (and even 1.5.91, which is not exactly recent AFAIK)
use GStreamer-0.10 and not GStreamer-0.8 (which are installable in parallel and
need their own set of plugins), so you probably have the 0.8 plugins installed,
but not the 0.10 plugins.
