The following command block without outputting any sound most of the time:

gst-launch filesrc location=alien.mpg ! decodebin ! audioconvert !
audioresample ! alsasink

When using decodebin2 it work reliably.

If you don't know what video alien.mpg is, ask for it and I will send it to you
or post it as attachment.
