My instalation is showing simmilar symptoms. I am not using any usb sound
device. I have laptop with integrated Intel HDA. I am using x86_64 with
following software versions:
    GNOME 2.22.3
    gstreamer0.10-base 0.10.20
    alsa-lib 1.0.16
    kernel 2.6.26.2
