GStreamer | gst-python | Ver: HEAD CVS
Summary: python_do_pending_calls timer is apparently redundant
Product: GStreamer
Version: HEAD CVS
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: Normal
Component: gst-python
AssignedTo: gstreamer-bugs at lists.sourceforge.net
ReportedBy: notverysmart at gmail.com
QAContact: gstreamer-bugs at lists.sourceforge.net
GNOME version: Unspecified
GNOME milestone: Unspecified
It seems the 10Hz python_do_pending_calls timeout added in init_gst is
redundant now, since anyone running a glib mainloop in a gst-python app will be
using gtk.main() or gobject.MainLoop.run(), so the pygtk or pygobject signal
watch will be running.
The timer causes any app that loads the gst module, such as rhythmbox (the
python bindings expose some GStreamer details) to wake up 10 times per second,
which tends to make people unhappy these days.
