Please disregard the second point (the one about gst_poll_wait), after
finishing the GstPoll Windows porting I realized it was no longer valid, as one
needs to enumerate socket events in order to reset the event object and store
the current state by means of WSAEnumNetworkEvents. (Because this one has
side-effects it can't be called multiple times so one has to store the last
state.)
