When trying to play mp3 files both players named in summary hang.
rhythmbox -d says:

error while playing: Internal GStreamer error: state change failed.  Please
file a bug at http://bugzilla.gnome.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=GStreamer.

I am using Ubuntu 8.10 on an x86 platform - namely a MacBook.
