ds suggest on IRC that libtool version 2.2 is required now, but that there is
no check for this.

The version of libtool on ubuntu 8.04 is:
1.5.26 Debian 1.5.26-1ubuntu1 (1.1220.2.493 2008/02/01 16:58:18)
