Using the GNU gold linker instead of GNU ld causes the following output:-

  CC    gsttaglibmux.o
  CXX   gstid3v2mux.o
  CXX   gstapev2mux.o
  LINK  libgsttaglib.la
ld: fatal error: -shared and -r are incompatible
