It looks to me like the debug output in that bug has been obtained by running
gst-plugin-scanner directly from the command line. That won't work. It will
wait for input on stdin, and it's not surprising that it's spinning until it
gets some input.

The plugin scanner needs to be spawned via libgstreamer. Can you get us the
GST_DEBUG=*:5 output when starting firefox from the command line? Does this
also happen when you run e.g. gst-inspect-0.10?
