Just for the record, we should do something similar on v4l2src. The v4l2 kernel
side switched to monotonic clock as well and we currently introduce quite some
timestamp jitter by setting a timestamp when user-space is scheduled instead of
taking the timestamp from kernelspace. If we want to do that configurable by a
gobject-property, I would call it "use-driver-timestamps" or something similar.

Although I have not understood yet, why the patch is modifying basesrc.
