Since our application must stream synchronized video/audio for weeks or months
without interruptions we can't use two clocks because of the clock drift
between these.

To have the best synchronization and the least amount of jitter we want to
1) Use the same clock to time stamp audio and video and 'drive' the pipeline
2) Take the audio and video buffer time stamps as close to the hardware as
possible.
