Stefan, your comment is very true if drift was all we needed to address.
Unfortunately, in a heavily loaded system it is possible that our user space
gstreamer application is scheduled so that large delays are introduced before
being able to serve timestamps. Thus introducing either a constant audio delay
or a jitter depending on implementation.
With the suggested architectural changes we stand a better chance of getting an
accurate timestamp in these situations.
