This is on Mandriva Cooker with gst-plugins-ugly 0.10.17. The checks simply
hang here:
make[1]: Entering directory
`/home/users/goetz/BUILD-x86_64/gst-plugins-ugly-0.10.17/tests/check'

ps shows a running application called states.
