Hm, this sounds more like a bug in Xv or your driver. xvimagesink only creates
a window with the width/height that would result in the correct display aspect
ratio if the raw video is scaled to that window size.

Is this a problem with all X drivers? I can't reproduce this here, xvimagesink
is correctly rotated with the screen and the display aspect ratio is correct
too.
