For what it's worth, I don't think GstValueList should ever have been used here
(it should have been GstValueArray if it had to be Gst API).

It should be GValueArray really (but see bug #667228, unresolved at the moment
what to do with that), or maybe we can pass a GVariant or something?

Dont' think it's a good idea to promote GstValue{List,Array} as
ersatz-GValueArray.
