The log shows:

Failed to read next DVD block. Error: Encrypted or faulty DVD

The log also shows libdvdcss being used to crack the keys on the DVD.
(Some) DVD manufacturers are known to insert errors on purpose on their DVDs to
try to prevent people from using them.

So, disregarding an unlikely DVD physical damage happening at the same time as
the switch, this seems to point to lower down the chain, in either libdvdnav,
libdvdcss, or lower level drivers for your DVD drive. You could try installing
whichever version of libdvdnav/libdvdcss was in the previous install to check
for that (assuming they're ABI compatible).

I think this is something that people on your distro's bug tracker would be
better placed to help you with. Please let us know in the end if the issue is
tracked to GStreamer, and close it if it ends up being elsewhere.
