Summary: Add native support for JPEG2000
    Classification: Platform
           Product: GStreamer
           Version: unspecified
        OS/Version: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: Normal
         Component: don't know
        AssignedTo: gstreamer-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
        ReportedBy: bugzilla at hadess.net
         QAContact: gstreamer-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
     GNOME version: ---

FinalCut Pro supports to JPEG2000, and a number of hardware cameras now come
with JPEG2000 as the main codec (or an alternative).

There is some support in gst-ffmpeg, and ffmpeg itself through libopenjpeg, but
quite low resolution videos such as this one:
http://samples.mplayerhq.hu/mov/FCP/JPEG2000.mov
are unplayable (video decoding too slow?).

A native MPJEG2000/JPEG2000 decoder in GStreamer could help solve those
problems.

libjasper is an alternative to libopenjpeg for support (I've used it for
JPEG2000 support in gdk-pixbuf).
