We are unsure how to pass the data down stream - should we just pass the
integers and let apps handle mapping them to strings or map the strings in
tsparse and send down strings as defined in the spec.

In the latter case it would be great if we could provide translations for them
in a gettext domain somewhere, apps could then either reuse common translations
or implement localization themselves.
