For MPEG containers GStreamer can only create estimates of the duration based
on the file size and bitrate (and discoverer might stop too early to give
realistic bitrate estimates). For Divx (which is IIRC AVI) this should work as
long as the duration is stored in the file...

And the same for MKV.


Could you attach/link one of the Divx sample files?
